Nicola Watson – nice to meet you. Web designer, that’s me. My role in the project starts at kick-off too. I’m already sketching out some designs and making notes while listening to the client. Then I go away and create mood boards to show how the website might look and feel. I come up with design concepts and suggest ideas for content and structure – for example, where we put key information within the site. I work closely with the researcher because s/he lets me know what’s already out there, and what the audience might expect from this site. That gives me a good idea of the kind of design we’re looking to create.
